A TRAFFIC JUNCTION AS PERCIEVED IS NOT MERELY A SPACE WHERE VEHICULAR AND/OR PEDESTRIAN MOVEMENTS OCCUR.
IT IS A PARTLY ORGANISED CHAOS WITHIN WHICH VARIOUS ACTIVITIES OCCUR DEFINING IT AS A PLACE.
ISSUES LIKE AIR AND NOISE POLLUTION DISCOMFORT THE PEOPLE (USERS)…..BUT THE DAILY ACTIVITIES AND TRANSITIONS GO ON WITH PEACE WITHIN.
WHILE SOME ARE WORKING TO ORGANISE THE CHAOS ADAPTING TO THE ISSUES THEMSELVES, SOME EARN THEIR LIVELIHOOD HERE.
CO-EXISTENCE OF CONTRASTING SPEEDS AND VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES MAKE THE PLACE.
Tambat Ali...moulding, beating, chiseling copper...photographs by Pradnya Nesarikar
Tambat Ali or the colony of coppersmiths is one such lane in Kasba Peth where the artisans work the day long on moulding, beating and chiseling copper, brass and aluminium utensils to earn a livelihood, pouring their heart and soul in the craft.
Despite the progress of the city and the change of preference of people has
hey continue with their craft and hard ways

Deccan Bus Stop ... never a dull moment ... photographs Ragini Goswami
Lying in almost the center of the city, the Deccan bus-stop is one of the busiest bus-stops in Pune.
During the peak hours almost every minute a bus comes on the stop.
Traffic is often in complete disarray and the people are on the roads because everyone is in a hurry not to miss the buses.
Even if the people have to wait for long intervals for their preferred buses, people have quite adapted to this way of travelling.
Ghat at Vriddheshwar Mandir...Reality could be far from what we see…photographs by Shreyasi Ansingkar
...Inspite of the visible lack of maintenance and untidiness, there is an invisible calmness to this place.
As a contrast to the busy running city,
this area is a silent surprise element
enjoyed and used not only by people but also by animals.
A feeling of not being a part of the city
yet being there...
